Our Mission

Engage Early Years was founded by Shana Laffy in 2016 to empower Early Years settings, schools, childminders and organisations, to reflect on their everyday practice and offer the best quality care and education in a holistic way. With the growing demand to be curriculum-focused, safeguarding-aware and available for pastoral care, Shana felt the need to offer a bespoke range of services which were truly tailor-made. As the impact of financial cuts and challenges in child and adult mental health continues to impact settings, Shana has focused on offering practical, affordable consultancy and training, which keeps well-being and trauma-informed practice at the heart of the work.

Some words from our clients

“Shana was brilliant to work with. She spent time getting to know the staff and management team and the children, patiently building trust. She didn’t try to impose her own preferences, but spent time observing practice and asking open questions, and worked to clarify our expectations and aspirations so that she could give us the best possible help. Shana was very quickly able to identify and acknowledge some of our individual and collective strengths. She brought a helpful, supportive challenge to areas that she felt we could improve more quickly, and she shared some practical suggestions drawn from her own experience. Staff responded well to her confident and nurturing approach and took away ideas that they still use to this date. If we had to sum up Shana, we’d say she is friendly, approachable and adaptable, but also very knowledgeable. We’d definitely work with Shana again!”

Shana is an intelligent and passionate person she really engages practitioners and inspires them to do well. She has a very positive approach and understands the challenges professionals face in this industry. “We spent a wonderful day with Shana Laffy of Engage Early Years, who delivered Attachment and Emotion Coaching training to us. We explored the vital role of Early Years Professionals in supporting children’s life long brain development and the impact on well-being. This was one of the most thought-provoking courses I have attended, and Shana provided lots of wonderful practical ideas and strategies for us all to use. Thank you so much Shana, your warmth, knowledge, and passion inspired us all and I know our new learning will make a huge difference to our practice. Hope to see you again soon! #newlearning #braindevelopment #attachment #earlyyears #CPD”
