4-Part Emotion Coaching Skills for Parents – The Road to Connection

About The Course
This 4-part interactive course is designed to give you practical tools to take away and use in your parenting that same day. You will learn about how children’s brains develop from birth and how to talk so children will listen and connect with you. We will explore attachment theory about think about the best way to interact with children to set them up for life long healthy relationships. The course will also help parents think about the impact of their own experiences on their parenting style.
Through discussions in pairs and learning in the whole group as well as individual activities during which you will devise tools to take away, you will learn the method of Emotion Coaching. The training will explore the ideal time to set boundaries and also top tips for managing the power struggle.
Emotion Coaching steps can be used with children from toddlers to teens and new parents can benefit from understanding about setting the groundwork for emotions from birth. This non-judgmental and supportive group training can support you to unpick the best approach for you and your family to foster children’s emotional well-being and help them manage difficult emotions.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is for all parents/carers (or parents/carers to be) who have an interest in developing children’s self-regulation and emotional skills. Whether you are expecting your first child, have teenagers, are a foster carer, step-parent or grandparent, this course can set you on the road to connection with children.
Meet Your Trainer
Shana Laffy is an accredited Emotion Coaching UK trainer, well-being consultant, parenting coach and qualified therapist (MBAC) working with children, adults and couples. Shana works through the creative arts and as well as more traditional talking therapy. She specialises in attachment and working with trauma, with an interest in neuroscience and brain development. She delivers training and coaching across the country, both to parents and professionals. Shana brings knowledge from a variety of lead roles in teaching and working with families. Shana is a Designated Safeguarding Lead for a mental health charity and also runs an Early Years consultancy business.
This includes a 6 hour CPD certificate of attendance for your records, access to an exclusive resources bank and a PDF of the training slides.

I found the course really interesting and useful – it was encouraging to learn that my wife and I are doing plenty of good things already, while also discovering more of the rationale/reasoning behind it; and extra bits which can help reinforce good behaviours – for both parents and child! For me it worked well over Zoom – I also found the ‘breakout’ sections useful – the other parent I was paired with each time was easy to talk to and while we were in different situations, it was good to discuss what we’d just heard and consider how they applied to us.
The Emotion Coaching course by Shana was great.
